Resolution No. 29
HEALTH CARE
WHEREAS, Forty-three million Americans under the age of 65 are uninsured and most uninsured workers are low-wage workers. Three of every five uninsured workers earn less than 20,000 dollars annually and three of every four earn less than 30,000 dollars; and.
Higher costs are the reason working families are losing coverage and in an aging population, a greater longevity and technological advances all contribute to the cost increases and so does the sheer decline in coverage; and
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO, and the Labor Movement lead the way in setting higher standards and affordable and quality health care for it’s members, and in securing legislation and other reforms that will expand health care access and options for the public at large. The working men and women of the AFL-CIO will continue to fight for universal coverage.
